The J-15 story is getting more and more confusing!

... and now here is J-15 no. 72!
While the renumbering from 1xx numbers to 01-24 made sense and the additional Batch 03 fighters logically became No. 30+, the No. 60 modex J-15 were or are still unusual.
My feeling tells me that we see a second squadron under construction with numbers 01-35 in the first wing and no. 60-xx in the second.

Beat my by half a minute damn. I agree this just throws up more questions. I would like to know if the 6X is filled already given that we have a 7X serial. Also what is the state of the 3X serials, I assume they wouldn't just build half a dozen aircraft with lower serials of new batch and then renumber to a higher first digit so there is bound to be a serial higher than 35 (and what about 4X then, just not spotted?).
It could also be that we are just understimating numbers by quite a bit even if not all numbers from 00-72 are filled. Given that we already see large spread of spotted serial numbers I'd assume we are at ~50 J-15 now.
Anyway production rate seems to be relatively decent right now.

Wow ... I was quicker than you? I should mark the calendar! ;)
Well, as you noted, more questions than answers, but my feeling tells me that there are indeed two squadrons - maybe even brigades with about 35 aircraft in formation. 1st one with J-15s nos. 01 to 35 and the 2nd one - skipping thee number 40s and 50s for an unknown reason - with nos. 60-95 (maybe) if they both will have 35 J-15s each.

If your feeling is correct, I'll guess 36 planes per squadron: 1 - 36 and 61 - 96. Or have we already seen # 60?

Hi is it possible that PLAN is trying to manage the j15 before the third ACC fully operational and to get pilots more ready to be flown out once the 3 ACC comes online
