On the top picture, do we see two types of flanker behing build ? Some tails tops looks differrents ? The two middle ones look to have less trunkated top ( the darker tips ones).
Most likely an optical illusion produced by the way the different shades of gray interact with the background color and light.

I must admit, I had a similar idea based on the different primer colour. The green ones left and right seem to be J-15s but the one in the middle looks different. Also it seems to stand out higher ... could be a twin-seater, maybe a J-15S, J-15D or simply a J-16.

If these are aircraft for Shandong that are currently in production, then China is in no rush.

Or are these planes already for 003?

Or are they older pictures?

The first aircraft under construction is sitting lower than the second one. Look to the bottom left of the image and you can see its nose. Its just an optical illusion based on the different distances between aircraft and their state of finished.
