J-15 carrier fighter thread

I'm pretty sure some kind of two seat J-15S for training pilots is needed. The PLAAF will get tired of having their trained pilots sucked out of them to serve on the carrier.

As far as i know the Naval Aviation trains their own pilots already since some yeras, they are no longer former PLAAF pilots.

To admit IMO the Chinese navy most of all needs a decent carrier-capable trainer and I expect not the JL-9 but a development of the JL-10 (hopefully in the not too far future). Otherwise I expect the transition will take place from this JL-10G to J-15 and only then from the J-15 to the J-15D, so that most likely experienced J-15 pilots will fly the J-15D first and as such not really a dedicated trainer is needed.

Just my 2 cents.

More rumors and info on the J-15D from pb19980515:

1. J-15D can carry 3-5 EW pods
- Each EW pod carries two X-kilowatt jammers
- Each jammer can cover XX bands
- Low-frequency jammers has greater bandwidth coverage and have stronger interference capabilities
- These pods can achieve full-spectrum interference
2. The CATOBAR variant of the J-15D is approximately two years away

If CV-18 is around the neighborhood of 85,000t then it should easily fit a full air wing of 48 J-15s, 4 J-15Ds, 4 JK-600s, and ~16 helos.

No I would call it as follows

CV-16 and 17= 24 x J15 all variants and 16 helicopters

CV-18 and 19= 36 x J15 all variants and 16 helicopters

CVN-20 and CVN-21= 48 x FC31/J15A/B and 16 helicopters

Total carrier aviation 216 fighters

I have no idea why you think an 85,000t carrier couldn't fit 48 J-15s + AEW + EW + helos. Maybe you should take a look at the air wing for the USS Kitty Hawk, which came in at 82,000t....

Another tidbit from pb19980515:

I cannot translate it, so any help is appreciated. It seems to be referring to the wingtip pods.

The wingtip pods are for determining the direction and elevation of enemy signals. The regular EW pods are for jamming the enemy signals after their direction and elevations are identified. They'll cover all spectrums
