J-15 carrier fighter thread

I answer my own question. It is ACMI pod. Look at this great photo almost like Japanese navy flag with ray radiating from the sun
J-15 standby on deck with real Air-Air missiles, while others carry ACMI pods for training.

look at the first photo, #118 is back to the sky. Is it repaired or replaced? (original #118 had been crashed during pilot certification training on April 6, 2016)

Not only 118, but also 107 ... so either these are old images (what I don't think) or these birds have been indeed either repaired or replaced.

But what happened to 107? I can only recall another two incidents:
1. 117 had been crashed about same time as the 118, pilot was killed;
2. 104 was hit by bird, both pilot and plane landed safely.

Or more likely 212 and 203

Well it doesn't matter what the exact numbers are, or if the code name represents a new aircraft or just a new pilot on a witnessed fighter . We can make the legitimate assumption that the second carrier-based fighter regiment is on the way what so ever.

But how likely or realistic is this to just have done maiden flight and entering service so soon, esp. when the J-16G is not operational?

Deino

Hard to say, because we don't know how much of J-16D's development went into J-15D, and we don't know when J-15D actually first flew.

There were rumours that J-15D first flew October last year, and if J-15D (or J-17 if it is called that??) borrows essentially the same subsystems as J-16D (of which the first prototype first flew in late 2015), then I suppose in theory it isn't impossible for the first J-15D to have entered some kind of "service" (likely IOT&E equivalent?) if everything was super smooth.

But we haven't heard much consistent news or seen many consistent photos from the J-16D/J-15D/J-17 front since 2015 so tbh who knows.
