Some interesting points from pb19980515:

  • J-16D will begin to enter service by the end of 2019
  • J-15B will fly by 2019
  • J-15D will fly by 2019-2020
  • J-XY will fly by 2019-2020
  • J-16's radar can detect an AWACS-sized target at 400 km
  • Passive detection (RWR capabilities) allow this new EW aircraft to track enemy radar emissions from XXX kilometers away
  • The J-15D, KJ-600 and a new UAV will be able to intercept and jam enemy communications
  • There is an anti-radiation missile with a range of 400 km, but the project hasn't been finalized yet

2019 will be a busy year for SAC and a major one for the PLANAF.

But wasn't the J-15D = J-17 said to prepare its maiden flight just that moment? I think there was a report a few days ago.

by yankeesama about identifying Flankers:
Among the "Flankers" of our army, the J-15 is the most special one. The three-wing layout and foldable wings and tails are the core features. In addition, the auxiliary airspeed tube at the front of the right side bar, tail hook, short tail vertebrae, as well as independently set flaps and ailerons, double slit flaps, etc., are all different from the other Su-27 series. The characteristics of the aircraft.

In addition to the tandem two-seat layout, the remaining identification features of the 歼-15S are basically the same as 歼 -15. The aircraft is currently mainly used as a verification platform for the domestic carrier-based fighter aircraft FWS-10H, and the new type of carrier-based special aircraft based on the development of the 歼-15S is about to usher in an important node.

Unlike other tandem two-seater “flanked” cockpit covers, the central frame of the J-15S hatch covers is positioned further back so that the pilots in the front and rear cabins are closer in sight when approaching a landing approach.

So it's one of those stock phrases that probably doesn't necessarily refer to the first flight.

it should be seen in combination with CV 001 A, which will have the first builder trials within weeks and will be in PLAN-Service in 2019 .

That's a great image, if it's a real image. It proves J15 could carry as many as 4 antiship missiles per plane.

I would like to see heavy load J15 launch from waist position

J15 can do it no doubt

A few years ago someone posted weight take off vs distance images from various take off positions

It had weight, fuel load and take off length

If my memory serves me correctly Waist take off was 105m?

Extremely clear photo of the J-15S, first of its kind too, with production number of 0001.
