There can be mechanical loaders. As seen in the low manning requirement and high mechanization and automation levels in Russian nuclear submarines, the philosophy of mechanization and automation in other navies can be substantially different from those of the USN.
They would have designed the mechanical loader very carefully, remembering American Airlines Flight 191,

Prof Ma apparently showed a video of it during his presentation recently.

The question remaining is, are the J-15A and the notional "J-15B" the same aircraft?

yes, he did show a video, but there's no reason to think that this photo is from his video. Also, we still don't know which of the catapults is the EM cat and which is the steam cat.

And who knows. I'm just calling it J-15A/T/B right now because the designation for future J-15 variants is all over the place.

Well Let's say

J15A are the 24 x J15 for 001

We have seen J15S twin seater but not sure if they continued that project post testing ?

J15T is CATOBAR or EMALS testing

J15D is the EW varient already flew

J15B is the production J15 for CV-17 or 002

The latest image (April 2017) indicated delivery of the 03 batch (S/N 121-123?) has started. It was first rumored in October 2014 that a CATOBAR variant is being co-developed by the 601 Institute and CSIC 704 Institute. This variant features a further strengthened forward landing gear in order to withstand the high-g force during the acceleration. In July 2016 the first prototype of theCATOBAR variant (

? #5x1) flewfor the first time, powered by two indigenous WS-10H engines. It features a nose landing gear with a much longer and wider drag strut. The production units are expected to be stationed onboard the third Type 002 aircraft carrier to be constructed in the future. A recent rumor claimed that a prototype of the EW variant (J-15D?) just flew for the first time on October 25, 2016. It was rumored in November 2016 that a

took off for the first time from a ground-based electromagnetic catapult (EMALS). The latest rumor (April 2017) suggested that the production of J-15A ended after 3 batches of 24 units for the Type 001 aircraft carrier. It is expected to be followed by the improved J-15B (?) which will feature a new AESA radar developed by the 607 Institute.
