All of this has nothing to do with the design of the plane itself; they are all just reflective of the era in which the aircraft were designed and produced.

J-15s were entirely reflective of the era they were produced, and Japanese F-15s are reflective of the era they were produced as well. There is literally no need to compare different aircraft because this isn't even a topic worth discussing to begin with.


We've already known the general configuration of J-15's cockpit many years ago and it is entirely reasonable.

How advanced is the cockpit of latest flankers like J-16 or J-11BG? Is it full on touchscreen single screen similar to F-35?

We don't know what J-11BG is like.

J-16 we know has two large screens with some buttons (unknown if they also have a touch screen function).

We know J-20 has a single large screen with a few buttons on the side as well as likely touch screen function.



From some interviews with F-35 pilots I've seen, it seems pursuing only touch screen without buttons may be somewhat detrimental because you don't quite have the tactile and "press without looking" ability that buttons do for certain key routine functions. It seems to me a combination of buttons and touch, with large screens is superior.

They already have more J15 than Liaoning and Shandong can carry onboard. If that's what you meant by "reserve". And with J35 to be inducted in near future, there will be more naval fighter jets than the 3 aircraft carrier can carry.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there over 70-75 J-15s flying around currently?

I would indeed be go up with the numbers:

We have confirmed for the regular J-15 (single seater):
Batch 01: 10 ... all cn. confirmed
Batch 02: 14 ... all cn. confirmed
Batch 03: at least 21 (IMO 24) maybe called J-15A ... cn. 0321 highest number confirmed
Batch 04: 20 (?) ... cn. 0417 highest number confirmed

J-15S:
Batch 01: at least 16 but known are ... cn. 0116 highest number confirmed

= at least 62 confirmed (maybe 68) J-15 & 16 J-15S = 78 (maybe 84)

From my understanding - but this is off-topic already too much - has 5 different units or sub-units operating J-15s, since there are five different "batches" of H-numbers known, even if only three different units are known / confirmed to operate
that type: two at Huangdicun (NTC), and most likely soon at Lingshui (STC), which is expected to become a permanent base as well.

IMO these batches of numbers are related to the first 24 J-15s at Huangdicun, then all 3x-numbers + J-15S at the NAU (also at Huangdicun) and three (maybe 4) different blocks of numbers (10 each) for operational aircraft, which are not permanently assigned to a certain carrier per assignment.
