J-12 Radar Cross Section Model

remember that thing we read by someone who's got inside info to the jxx project? if we piece what they've said, this does seem a possible design. actually if we compare that guy's words with the foto above, will it match? and are u guys saying j-20 is the official designation of the jxx?

Huitong, who has fairly good sources, thinks the JXX's designation is J-20 (don't ask me what J-16 to J-19 are).

The J-12 was actually a light fighter project from the 70s that actually had prototypes undergoing flight testing, but was a technological dead end. The PLAAF generally doesn't reuse designations that had prototypes built.

I think most of it matches. The guy also said the plane will have LERX to mitigate some problems posed by the canard, and that the side intakes will be DSI but somehow with adjustible inlets.

Personally I don't wish for another F-22 look-alikes

ie looks like the left bottom design might have LERX in front of the canards

Then again it might be something more conventional and less amazing (although this could just be earlier design):

Though you can't judge a plane entirely by look it does give an impression of being somewhat heavy and unwieldy.

Also the top part of the aircraft nose seems to have an angular break, like what's on here:

Funny enough, the program that that image came from referenced that model as the F-35

Do you mean the writing at the bottom ? (it mentions something about a smaller scale F-22). It's possibly just passing commentary not directly related to the video still frame.

When that image came out I specifically hunted down the program it came from. They were talking about the F-35, which is why the image is labeled as a "smaller scale F-22".
