J-10 Thread IV

I can not believe there is no discussion on PAF J-10CE participation & role in downing IAF jets last night. What is wrong guys? CAC stock is rising like anything while Dassault's is drowning in confusion. Is the discussion taking place elsewhere?
There's a different thread under world armed forces named Kashmir conflict 2025. All relevant discussion there for now.

I found it. But seeing that J10C is a big part of the action, there should be some cross posting here because this is the J-10 thread after all. This needs to be documented here. The J10C has not just been battle tested, but against other 4 & 4.5 gen combat aircraft. It has come on top & is the confirmed apex predator in South Asian skies. This is no small feat. Chinese systems have won the day against the best Europe has to offer, though in IAF hands.

I don't think we need to crosspost anything from that thread here unless there ends up being more definitive confirmation of details of J-10C's involvement, or even better any imagery or video of its involvement.

Until then, there's really no need to duplicate discussion

Probably because we don’t have any technical details to work off of. We know that J-10CE may have participated (I use the word may due to the confusion around the situation makes it genuinely hard to be sure of anything), but how the fight took place, what tactics and tech were used, etc are very unclear and there isn’t really a technical discussion centered around the J-10 to be had.

It’s confirmed.

According to Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, 5 Indian jets (3x Rafale, 1x Su-30, 1x Mirage) were downed and they were all downed by J-10C

It’s confirmed.

While I do give gravity to the deputy PM's words, they are ultimately still words and I treat it with some hesitance and it doesn't really add anything to our ability to hold a useful discussion in this thread that is J-10C specific beyond what is already occurring in the Kashmir thread.

Although it has been shared before I feel that it is appropriate to repost it here in light of recent events. Newer members who haven’t watched this really should check it out and get a feel for how difficult it was for China to develop a fourth gen fighter in the 80s and 90s. Accolades to Dr. Song for sticking with it thick and thin.

PS I know that the cover is a Lavi but what the heck, CCTV’s gonna CCTV. The actual content is great.

It was hard but they pulled through. When you throw the towel you go back to the first step and with time it's becoming more and more difficult. Stick with it risking to be a partial success but you just build on success. J-10 was the stepping stone for going forward.

IMHO it almost certainly can(it is not that heavy), the question is whether it's worth flight testing campaign.
Which is indeed...Pakistan may potentially pay for "PL-17E" though?
If I were China would discount/donate a few PL-17E for live testing.
I don't think the clip provides enough info to suggest that. Here is the clip for anything interested

Also, what is with their (CCTV's) obsession with showing off handcraft skills...
The media is meant to showcase the people's hard work over materialistic worship. Classic socialist tradition.

Probably a good thing. Studies shows kids being praised for good effort do better than kids praised for being smart. Because giving effort can make you smarter. Being told smart make people anxious to lie when they fail.
