That’s still military service. It’s not civilian piloting experiences as she claims.
Actually most guard pilots are high time civilian pilots as their "day job", they are so called "week end warriors" , so yes as Minnie states they have a lot of practical flying experience with navigation and airmanship....
They fly fighter aircraft for "Fun", also may have an airplane or two of their own, many fly competitive aerobatics....
As well many of those cat's learn to fly in the Military, and get out to make the big bucks as commercial airline pilots, and being adrenaline junkies, have to get their fix on "week end", and yes, they are subject to "activation", but their employers know that.....
so even though flying here is not as cheap and easy as in the past, there are a lot of civilian pilots.
So the military doesn't have a problem getting pilots, they have a difficult time retaining experienced pilots because the civilian market is SO competitive...
