These last few images nicely show how the TVC construction works. The outer petals which are not wholly movable in all directions (except for their ends) and which hold in place the inner petals which are the ones that do the moves. I'd say the outer part of the structure is different even from the MATV, even though the inner petal movements might be the same. (green lines are inner petals, or the inner nozzle, red lines are outer petals, which only contract and expand, but can do so unevenly)

I suspect the tip petals handle deflection but the base petals handle throat area for the divergent section.

I just realized that the J-10B + WS-10 is the first Chinese fighter aircraft to be 100% indigenous for all of the major components. Soon to be followed by the J-20 + WS-10X, FC-31 + WS-13/19, I guess.

Rumor has it that J-10B TVC's pilots and crew are still at Zhuhai and that they'll fly again on November 11th (to overshadow Jack Ma?).

The J-10B TVC demonstrator has loaded up external fuel tanks and left Zhuhai. Until next time, I suppose.

Even then, it was a brilliant performance and a powerful visual testament to the progress of Chinese engine technology & research.
