I've read that Chinese pilots have flown Pakistani F-16s as well as reported that Pakistani pilots have flown the J-10. Might learn something from that. And don't forget Pakistani pilots are pretty good according some in the US military.

I bet all systems bought from the West, would be evaluated by Chinese.

In theory China could provide soft loans to Pakistan, allowing the military to buy advanced western tech, thus China can evaluate. Ofcourse it would be secret. Plus western exporters cannot ask Pak to ban Chinese nationals to visit faciliates where weapons are based on pre condition of sale.

Any such thing would have been un-official.

having one or two pilots sneak over and fly a plane is one thing( if that ever happened), but participating in an exercise is another.

Btw does China conduct regular exercises with Russia or any other country?

I think China conduct military exercises with Russia and other Shanghai Cooperation members ever two years. Peace Mission 2005 is one sample.

You know what China should add to the designs of their fighters like the j-10 and fc-1, the collapsible and built in ladders so that there would be no need for a separate ladder the ground crew has to set for the pilot to embark on the cockpit.

A feature that is more related to aircraftcarriers then land based fighterjets. Weight is the most important factor but also not handy for stealth these days...

Space is also an issue; this would eat into space that would otherwise be used for avionics or fuel.

No. But wide band RF often use pulse compression in order to obtain better resolution of the target.

so what's the different?
pulse compression was first design to for BMEW radar to track ballistic missile, later apply to other ground and airborne radar.
ultra wide band? spread spectrum?
