is this a chinese rifle?

I came across these 2 pics recently. The article said they were PLA SF divers. Their smgs seem specially designed.

If they are indeed PLA/PLAN, it is the first time I see Chinese divers with O2 CCR.

Nope. It is (like so many other "new chinese" stuff) soviet/russian weapon. I don't have the name at the moment but I will try to look it up when I get out of work.

Thank you. To me, the divers in the 2 photos look Asian and they are wearing wetsuit instead of drysuit (for cold water). One of them has no gloves. That means they are training for temperate climate.

Maybe the PLA bought the smg off from the Russian. It has such a small bore though.

Another thing is that one seldom sees photos of rebreather with PLA/PLAN units. Now, there is finally some public showing of credible amphibious recon and SO capabilities (if the divers in the photos are indeed PLA).

Well unless there are more of those pics, there surely isen't any indication that these guys shold be PLA troops. Both guys are wearing maskes and gogles which make the assumption of them being "asian" impossible. In the other pic there isen't showing any heads at all. Also there is nothing in the enviroment cpatured in these pictures, only water which looks like it could be one of your lakes if all we know. More logical awnser is ofcourse in some Russian lake...

But if there is more of these pictures that reveals more, could you post them as well?

technically, it is not a rife. It is more like an underwater weapon. It is a weapon that is designed for underwater use.

pointblank is probably right the divers may not be chinese as i cannot find any more pic of it.

The rebreather in the two photos is O2 rebreather. It has no diluent. IDA-71 is a nitrox rebreather and it is back-mounted configuration. I have a photo of it.

Yes it's the Russian (Soviet actually) APS underwater rifle. It's not really designed for use on land.

Seems like quite a waste of money to me. How many underwater gun battles have there been in history. The Soviets and the Americans both already had underwater pistols before this gun entered service, which makes it all the more futile.
