And even then Qing China did managed to humilate France(Yunnan) and Russia(Xinjiang) while European politicans have been anything but useful.
Are there links with photos and videos? A friend of mine is researching far right conservatism in Japanese politics and even a morsel of information will help him immensely.

Qing actually managed its reconquest of Xinjiang (by Zuo Zongtang, you know the General Tso's chicken guy) 16 years after their defeat in Second Opium War and 12 years after Taiping rebellion. That would be like if Russia conquered all of Ukraine in 12 month back in 2014. Zuo Zongtang and his teacher Zeng Guofan were bonafide military and geopolitical geniuses.

I like to think every time you order General Tso's chicken you are celebrating China's supremacy over Xinjiang by crushing the Dungan Revolt.

Do they have that in Australia? I always thought it was a North American thing. Just like ‘dimmies’ are a weird Australian thing. I’ve never seen them in North America.

On a side note, I am not ashamed to say I enjoy the dish.

Australian take on Chinese food as a bunch of chicken dishes that are similar to General Tso's chicken that goes under all sorts of different names that's not standardized. I do see a pattern though that that sort of chicken dish here tend to be sweet and sour without the chilli.

Also France tried to rip Yunnan away and failed miserably. I am starting to question the history of the Boxer Rebellion and wondering if the Boxer actually managed to inflicted defeats on the 8 nation alliance given how Westerners like to rewrite history (ehem PVA using human wave tactics lol)

Re-posting an old post on this topic

Another article about China's so called "overcapacity" and "weak consumption" with some interesting use of statistics.
  • China's manufacturing production is 35% of the global total, which is more than the next 9 countries combined.
  • China's manufacturing export is 20% of the global total while the next 9 countries combined accounts for 40% of the global total.
In other words, while the next 9 countries combined produces less than China, they export twice as much as China! Somehow, that means China is the one with overcapacity and weak domestic consumption!
