I wonder if this is simply pandering to the what the public wants?
Example, portrayal of PLA operators in China movies tend to be lots of emotional shouting. Western operators tend to be protrayed as calmer, cool at all times. In the past, western SOF was all spray and pray and shouting but it seems that either taste has evolved or the narrative is being changed.
Maybe the Chinese narrative will "catch up" and be more refined or maybe it won't because this is what they want ...
But I do agree that at the higher level where there is better budgets and outside art direction, eg. recruitment videos which have commercial input, those seem to be done by agencies that have the license to go off script. Some of the recruitment videos I've seen are really top notch (eg. the 2018 one).
