That's interesting, I'm trying to look up where the original manufacturer is, but even on the store page it doesn't exactly list a supplier or a brand/company.
The firearmblog write up says the QTNVG is from the "same Chinese manufacturer as the ATN PS-31 housing" -- but ATN afaik isn't a Chinese company, so I'm a bit confused.

I'm a little bit confused. It seems like this company is indeed the producer of the full optics, as they're an optics company themselves?

edit, okay it seems like this company is a partner with various other companies, among them being ATN but also some bigger ones like leupold, nikon, vortex etc

Edit 2, hmm okay it seems like the tubes themselves are from elbit USA (not the Israeli elbit afaik)?

Elbit USA tubes are only for American customers, and would be installed stateside by the American distributor. No way would US gen3 tubes be shipped en mass to China commercially as the US government is still ridiculously precious about them (none US citizens are not even allowed to look through one).

This page with the Dual tube NDOs have a good video on the performance of the Chinese gen3 tubes they have on offer.

That’s awesome. PLA should prioritize sending new kits/outfit to current hotspot tibbet so that India and rest of the world can see they are dealing with modern military. Appearence/postering is more than enough sometimes to deter your opponents.

Probably soft inserts but no plates

Hmm, looking at other pictures, some might be using the older square cut alumina plates which could explain the imprint and the sag for the guy on the left. Really hope they fix that sagging though, it defeats the purpose of wearing the armor if it's not covering what its supposed to

The sagging usually comes from improper usage, which is typical of newly issued equipment as no one really has experience with them. Most vests in my experience comes with the ability to adjust to fit any sized body and work with thick winter clothes so they can be very loose, and they typically ship in the loosest configuration, the end user is expected to adjust it tighter for their own body size. What they don't usually come with is instructions for usage and fitting as it is expected that 'someone' in the battalion would have been trained and would advice on the rest, but sometimes this process gets messy and the message gets lost.

This is all part of the growing pains of modernization, it's the little things really. If you look back 20 years ago, when combat boots were first issued in the PLA over canvas shoes, I can hardly see anyone wearing it correctly. You'll see laces everywhere, pants being tucked in the boots for one set of PR shots and just dangling out for another. The way we've been taught is to roll the edge of the pants back in and secure it inside with garters so that no insects can crawl in, tie the boot laces in a quick release braid and tuck it under the gartered pants so it looks neat. These are basic infantry habits that will take time to learn, build up and spread in an army as ponderous as the PLA, but over time, it should become a basic ingrained skill or culture like folding your blankets into tofu shapes.

And just to add, the sagging is not just bad for protection, it can also cause exhaustion and long term injuries during training. The vest should be worn snugly so that it moves with you and distribute the weight between your shoulders and waist. So when you run and jump it should move with your body as one and not bounce and move independently. Usually after we fit a vest and helmet we would do a 'jumping jacks check' to make sure your gear stays snug and your helmet is not gonna bounce off your head and block your vision when you start running. The left guy is probably gonna start feeling his shoulders after a mile run, and if it goes on, I worrying for his lower back. Again, little things and growing pains.
