That's big news.
The INS Vikramaditya heads out to sea for the first time under the Indian ensign and Indian colors.
She will be escorted out by an Indian Talwar class frigate and met outside Murmansk by the INS Deepack replenishment vessel.
Then somewhere in the North Sea or English Channel, a Delhi Class DDG and another Indian frigate, probably a Shivalik FFG, will also join her.
Once off of Oman, she will be joind by the INS Viratt aircraft carrier and her group and they will conduct exercises in the Arabian Sea for a week or more.
Then, about a month from now, she will arrive at her home port in India.

Bit of luxury on the Vikramaditya, i suppose this is all for the captain and the senior staff and their guests.
I did a bit of digging on the hangar deck of the Vikramaditya. The dimension of the hangar deck is 130m x 22,5m x 6,6m. That means the hangar deck of the Vikramaditya is 2925m² total but if you take out the two elevators that will leave you with about 2600m² to work with. That's give or take without knowing the exact dimensions of the elevators. There is no word on a extension of the hangar deck during the refit so these numbers should be right.

we must have talked about this in the Varyag thread, but how does this compare to Varyag (just based on the original Soviet dimensions)?
The Liaoning has a hangar deck of 153m x 26m x 7,7m or 3978m² of hangar deck space. The Vikramaditya has a hangar deck of 130m x 23m x 5,7m or 2990m² of hangar deck space but if you subtract the area of the two elevators (maybe 300m²) then you will get about 2700m² work space in the Vikramaditya's hangars. Neither the Liaoning nor the Vikramaditya has their hangar decks enlarged. So they are still the same as the Soviet dimensions.
