On top of that, by the time the first of these 114 additional airframes is delivered — assuming the proposed deal is consummated — the Dassault Rafale will be a 45+ year old design.
This means IAF Rafales will serve well into the 2050s or more likely the 2060s, at which point the Rafale will be an ~80 year old design.
Not sure why the Indians aren't going with a Su-57 derivative — unless these negotiations with the French are merely intended to secure Russian concessions — but guessing it's a combination of "drinking too much of their own Kool-Aid," and Indian officials prioritizing kickbacks over national defense.
All jokes aside, it's a pretty sad situation.
