What opposite? It's deployed right on the Pak border. Naliya AFS is 90km away from the border, housing the Tejas No. 18 Squadron. This is where India was lobbing Brahmos into Sindh sector.

Both 45th and 18th were always in Sulur, Tamil Nadu.
Naliya...I didn't see it before, but anyway source is very sketchy piece of news on female pilots.

In any case, the problem isn't that it's a point defense fighter. The problem is that mark 1s clearly don't work and don't carry appropriate munitions for the job.
They're supposed to carry spice 1000s, but supposed doesn't mean they actually do.

The squadron at Sulur was the first to fly the Tejas and handles everything from air superiority and combat patrols to precision strikes and training new pilots,” explained a source. “Whereas, the squadron at Naliya, flies the FOC-standard Tejas and focuses more on rapid-response air defence along the western border with Pakistan
Sources further said that all IAF fighters, including Tejas, were operationally deployed during Operation Sindoor, and the fighter flew several Combat Air Patrol (CAP) and Close Air Support (CAS) sorties.

There is literally Google Earth satellite imagery of Tejas deployed on Pathankot airbase which is a frontline base in the north

India’s Aircraft Carrier Plan Hit by US Tech Delays: US Betraying Indian Navy?

When I was in university, I took a lot of things very personally, and my graduate advisor told me something along these lines: "To you, it is a matter of survival, but to them, it's just their job. They're not out for you personally, they just don't care as much as you do."

I think about this every time the Indians come out with a new article saying that this or that country is betraying India by delaying one sale or another. It's not really a betrayal. The other country just doesn't really care. They don't sit at a table snickering at the inconvenience this will cause India. That couldn't be further from their minds.

These headlines will only cease once the Indians realize that the only people who will care about their military the same way they do is really just themselves and really put in some effort into cultivating actual domestic abilities, instead of this constant "100% ToT will solve all of our problems" mentality.
