Popeye, tell me what you notice (or don't notice) about this vessel as it passes the USS Missouri and USS Arizona memorial.

Is it not flying any ensign or standards?

Are we talking about the lack of a USA flag?
Or lack of sailors manning the rails as is custom?

Or lack of sufficient pixels to properly tell? (I'm a jerk, I know :p )

Here's a higher resolution photo... It's definitely flying standards, and there are sailors manning the rails.

Looks like they are not manning the rails....But with the better photos on this page apparently they had a small contingent rendering honors on the flight deck.

Someone mentioned the US flag. That won't be flown until the ship is moored or anchored.

I know nothing about surface ships, that being said. The sides of the upper half of he F49 look "lumpy" like the steel plating warped or something. Is that a problem or is it "ok"?

It is not a problem.

Under the right lighting conditions and photographic settings, any warship looks this way.

The vessels are built from metal plates that are welded together an the seam lines and the background structure can appear this way in the right lighting when in reality the surface is far smother than such photos may appear.

For examples look how the side of the main deck house looks in one pic, and then how it looks in different lighting.
