Sergey Goreslavsky, the Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport’s deputy director said that the India army is equipped with a large number of vehicles produced in Russia as well as domestically-manufactured vehicles, constructed using Russian technology.

KUBINKA (Moscow Region) (Sputnik) – Russia has supplied India with more than $65 billion worth of military vehicles since 1960, the Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport’s deputy director told Sputnik at the Army-2016 military forum near Moscow on Tuesday. “Over the past years we have signed over $65 billion worth of contracts,” Sergey Goreslavsky said.

He noted that the India army is equipped with a large number of vehicles produced in Russia as well as domestically-manufactured vehicles, constructed using Russian technology. “We have experience in transferring modern technologies to our Indian partners and we are ready to develop this experience, including creating joint ventures and organizing joint production,” Goreslavsky said

The Army-2016 forum organized by the Russian Defense Ministry kicked off earlier in the day and will last through Sunday. The forum is held in the military-themed Patriot Park in Kubinka near Moscow and in a number of locations in Russian military districts.

With all major delays Rafale, Tejas only way now for avoid a big drop of fighters-bombers remove only old Mig-21 and keep Bison variant with Mig-27 so no 340 ( 120 + 125 +85 ) but 120 compensated for 2020 about with 36 Rafale and about 40 Tejas.
4th AF in the world with 830 fighters-bombers.

Second Indian Navy Project 15B Destroyer Mormugao Launched at MDL Shipyard in Mumbai

Another significant milestone in the annals of the Indigenous Warship design and construction programme of India was achieved with the launch of Guided Missile Destroyer, Mormugao, second ship of Project 15B, on 17 Sep 16, at Mazagaon Dock Ship Builders Limited (MDL), Mumbai. With a launch weight of 2844 tonnes, the vessel made its first contact with water at 11:58 AM with full fanfare during the launching ceremony graced by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba as the Chief Guest.

They are beautiful ships and with some great capability.

But only having 32 cells for their main AAW armament is simply too few.

I thought for sure (years ago now) that 15B would step up to at least 64.

They simply need more capacity to adequately protect their carriers.

I'm wondering that Indian members on SD forgot to cover up the first flight of HAL's LUH (Light Utility Helicopter) which occurred on September 6.

BENGALURU: A prototype of the indigenous light utility helicopter (LUH) took off at 12.15pm on Tuesday, marking the first flight of the chopper, a 187-unit order for which has already been placed with defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Sources in HAL said that the firm's chief test pilot Wing Commander Unni Pillai and test pilot Anil Bhambhani were in the cockpit for the first technical flight.

"It took off at 12.15(pm) and was in the air for 15 minutes. It was a technical flight and several parameters were tested," the source could not immediately reveal all the details immediately.

The LUH platform is a single engine multi-purpose helicopter in the three-tonne class and is designed to perform various roles like policing, urban surveillance, medical ambulance etc.

HAL has been keen on LUH for a while now and has even embarked on a separate complex for chopper production in Tumakuru near Bengaluru, which will largely focus on LUH. The first flight of the prototype was to happen sometime last year, but there has been a considerable delay.

Speaking about the new chopper complex in Tumakuru, HAL Chairman T Survarna Raju had told TOI earlier: "Activities that support Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv will also be taken up in the new complex."

However, the primary responsibility will be to produce the LUH. Raju had said that if everything went well the unit could be operational by 2017-18. It will have the initial capacity to build 3 tonne class and 10 tonne class of helicopters and will be able to build about five 3-tonne class of LUHs per year.

BENGALURU: State owned Bharat Electronics announced on Saturday that it will be setting up an advanced night vision products facility in Krishna District in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The factory, which will be a major step in advanced electronic products production in India will be set up at Nimmaluru village near Machilipatnam and will be the largest such facility in the country once commissioned, covering an area of over 50 acres.

According to BEL, the new facility will be built in several stages with an estimated investment of about `300 crore over a four-year period.

“The new facility has been planned now to establish a state-of-the-art factory to cater to the futuristic requirements for Night Vision Products,” BEL CMD S K Sharma said in the BEL statement. adding that the public Sector undertaking’s venture is a significant step forward in building up indigenous development capacities of critical defence systems.

“BEL is coming up with a modern Defence Systems Integration Complex at Palasamudram in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh to give further thrust to indigenous development and production of future defence systems,” Sharma said.

The factory will enable BEL to expand its Electro-Optics business and carry out manufacturing and integration for ongoing and upcoming projects, the company added.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the facility is to be presided over by Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu on September 19, with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and top officials also present.

BEL is a state-owned aerospace and defence company with nine factories in India. It primarily manufactures advanced electronic products for the Indian Armed forces.

The Indian Army has been on a major modernisation drive, in which equipping soldiers with night vision capabilities have been at the forefront.
