Besides that, who else has the deep pocket for such a deal? Unless it's two separate deals with two countries.
Some people think Egypt or Singapore might want just one of them.

That way you could have two deals with either of those and/or India.

But INdia I believe could buy them both...I can not think of anyone else who needs...or would be willing to buy both at this time (outside of Russia of course who was having them built).

Years after the two major rotorcraft competitions ended with U.S. firm Boeing victories in both, the Indian government has finally cleared both deals. Livefist can confirm that the Cabinet Committee on Security, the apex government gateway just ahead of contract signature has provided its official go-ahead. The deals for 22

helicopters will be signed shortly.
The long awaited go-ahead comes two days before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads to the U.S on his second official visit in less than a year.

The deal will be a composite contract signed between the Indian MoD and Boeing & the U.S. Army. The Apache beat out the Russian Mi-28NE, while the Chinook defeated the Mi-26T. They won't be the first American-built choppers in Indian military service though -- the Indian Navy received six UH-3H Sea King choppers along with the erstwhile USS Trenton (now INS Jalashwa) in 2007. The first US-built chopper with the Indian armed forces was the Sikorsky S-55 in the fifties.

Visakhapatnam-class destroyers
Name of ships will be
INS Visakhapatnam
INS Porbandar
INS Mormugao
INS Paradip

Yes, these are the Project 15B DDGs which are the follow-on, improved Kolkata class.

Each will displace 7,4000 tons. They have improvements, particularly in stealth features...but I am still surprised that these, like the Kolkatas, only carry 32 VLS for the Barak 8 missiles.

They have 48 VLS altogether, but 16 are dedicated to the ASuW role. I would have thought that they would have at least had 48 AAW cells.

As the principle AAW escort for their carriers and high value vessels, I would have thought they would have more AAW capacity.

The first, INS Visakhapatnam, was launched in April:

With a total of seven of these very modern and capable destroyers, they should be able to allocate a couple of them to each carrier deployment.

Same hull as Kolkata for save cost.
