Its not just IDRW,their defense officials (ministry) also says the same thing.
Its just my guess but i think its intentional misdirection,
Hear me out.
Just like apple iphones that are assembled in india not made (everything comes from china)
I think They will pay for the companies to setup a plant in india, have their own workers, engineers, get the parts sent over and the companies own people will 'assemble' it, imagine if a safran assembly plant got transplanted from france to india.
It allows the politicians to say 'made in india, /Tech transfer' even though it is not.

This is just my guess.

Look at this screenshot from indian CNBC 'Rolls Royce and Safran 100% tech transfer AND ip transfer'
DUDE NO WAY this is happening,

also on any 5th Generation fighter… Nothing will happen… it will Take ages do define the requirements, India will demand as usually ToT, local production or other unrealistic nonsense … it will be re-issued & re-negotiated for even longer and then dropped, but the blame goes to LM or Sukhoi.

India is expected to issue a tender this year for acquiring 114 multi-role combat aircraft, according to two sources cited by Reuters.0two%20sources%20cited%20by%20Reuters.[/URL]
There ya go! The next big acquisition, Last time this happened in 2014? 2015, they went from 126 rafales initial request to....negotiate down to just 36. Wonder what will happen this time, 114 planes is tens of billions.
Their squadron size is reduced to 29 now (with the migs being retired)
but I think makes sense to acquire them in limited numbers. But hundreds?
To be fair they havnt actually ordered in the hundreds yet, only like 7-8 are supposed to be inducted next year May, the order i think for the 1st batch was 40. Could be like the Army(arjun), IAF knows its not worth it? and dont order big? (See 114 tender request)

Most likely yep, agreed. Its gonna be like 5+ years away, esp if they are really/seriously asking for local production.

sources within the PM and specifically the PAF say the IAF wanted PAF personnel on secondment to the QaAF to be removed from participation in the exercise, the Qataris refused, the Indians wouldn’t budge, so the Qataris cancelled the exercise.

Apparently in the international community the joke is, the IAF has PAF phobia lol.

Can’t be because of security reasons since PAF has already shot and hacked Indian Rafales IRL.

India Develops First ‘Dual Stealth Drone’ Wrapped in Nanotech Cloak

up to build India’s first “dual stealth drone,” combining autonomous flight with a new material that hides platforms from both radar and infrared (IR) sensors.

Sai Teja Peddineni, CEO, Veera Dynamics, told TOI that the material's development was initially spurred by a problem statement from the Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) in 2022, which wanted an infrared stealth solution.

While it achieved a 97% IR signature reduction with RAMA, the project quickly evolved to address radar spectrum invisibility as well with an over 90% reduction in radar signature, he said.“RAMA represents our vision of platform-wide invisibility. It’s not just a material – it’s a strategic capability for future warfare,” Peddineni added.

It blends two carbon compounds that absorb radar waves and convert them into heat, which disperses at a rate of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) per second.

Developed by Veera Dynamics, the stealth material called RAMA (Radar Absorption & Multispectral Adaptive) uses nanotechnology and can be applied as paint or wrap on military assets.

Less than 50 weapons brought Pakistan to ‘talking table’: Indian Air Force Vice Chief of Air Staff

He was mentioning the role of air power in hitting 11 air bases of Pakistan on May 10

Tribune News Service
New Delhi, Updated At : 02:41 PM Jul 25, 2025 IST

Indian Air Force Vice Chief Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tewari on Friday said less than 50 weapons had brought the adversary to the ‘talking table’ during Operation Sindoor.

He was mentioning the role of air power in hitting 11 air bases of Pakistan on May 10.

Within hours of that strike, Pakistan called up the US seeking an intervention and later called up India seeking a cessation of hostilities that had lasted for four days (May 7-10).

The IAF Vice Chief said, “We have discussed the cost benefits of air power. There is no greater example than what we did in Operation Sindoor. Less than 50 weapons can bring the adversary to the talking table, that is an example that needs to be studied by scholars.”

It feels like they are completely disconnected from reality....

Tejas Mk 2 should have roughly similar capabilities to Gripen NG. Assuming they ever get it to work that is.
The Gripen is around the minimum of the kind of fighter that India needs. The problem with using it as the design goal is that if the Mk2 falls short of this goal it's going to be another plane that India doesn't need but they're still committed to buying.

There are about 80 Tejas Mk1as on order, and around 100 more pending. I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in these numbers, but they're what the Indian government wants the world to believe. It's possible that the IAF doesn't want these planes, but they don't get to call the shots. They're only getting a few this year, but that's more on HAL not being able to deliver.

Nanotech Cloak

Insert Metal Gear Solid Stealth suit/Nanomachines esp from mgs4 (Side note hopefully the new remake coming is good)

This feels more fitting for the Kashmir conflict thread, but lets say 40 fired we know about 8 hit. So only 20% hit for now

Yeah they are on order but yeah it doesnt mean much,
Its possible its not their first choice but that decision is being made by politicians, like if you have upcoming mk2 tejas variant coming, why would you open tender for 114 more planes? You have some domestically.
Could be operational costs + Its a political dec-stocks/kickbacks thing, HAL's market cap is at $35-40bn after all

At this rate of technological development I am pretty sure they'll be the first ones to colonize and own all of the moon and Mars. RIP Chinese and American delusions of moon & Mars colonization. This will be the Bharati millennium and we'll all just be living in it.
