Thank you my friend, for your encouragement, advise, and your faith and prayers.
I have Chordoma...you can see my whole journal here:
The average for return was 6-7 years which was exactly what happened with me. I had three initial very large surgeries which removed my entire sacrum and I was in the hospital and rehab for over six months.
Then, tree years ago I had major proton radiation treatment for tumors in my hips. Very difficult treatment...but it worked and either killed ot totally stopped those tumors.
But then this year the cancer returned in my thoracic and lumbar areas and I had to have more surgery. Unfortunately it also returned in my soft tissue. One in my pectoral muscle on the right side, two in my liver, and two more in my skin. These are non-curable to date, and is why I am now listed as terminal...it just depends on how fast they grow.
That's is okay. All of this...for all of us...is in God's Hands and I am happy to leave it there and trust in Him. His will is best...even when it is hard and when we do not understand.
Since Chordoma's are so rare, only about five major hospitals around the country have much experience and I was blessed to get the foremost expert on surgical work with Dr. Rhines at MD Anderson in Houston. But staying there has been very expensive and those costs are not covered by insurance, so it has depleted about half og my 401K retirement over the last 7 years. We were blessed to have it...otherwise we would probably have had to sell our house.
But the folks who helped me set up the fund me account id so in the hopes that smalll amounts of helps from ots of people could help recover those funds so my wife would be in good shape after I pass on. That's is what I pray for now and hope for, that she can continue to help her Dad who is bed ridden and for whom we built out a small aprtment on our house, and so she can help and spend time with our grand kids. Good, healthy times with grandparents are something a lot of our culture misses today and my wife and I believe that it is very important for the mental and emotional well being of children. So, we want her to be able to not have to work now that she is past 60 but to be able to help her parents and our grandkids. That is really what our requests are about.
Anyway...God bless you and your wife. I pray she may have bbeaten the cancer.
At ths point, I am pretty much left with the Drs increasing the pain meds as I grow worse. At some point the cancer will take me and I will be blessed to go home to our Father. The question is simply how long it will take and how much I will have to live through until that time comes.
I trust God in Heaven, and know that this experience has touched a lot of people...and it has made me a better person as well.
TAke care...and again, than you and everyone who has given encouragement, prayed, shared their faith, and helped us...may His blessings be returned ten fold to all of you!
