Do companies run criminal background checks like in the USA? For sure a criminal record means no job with multinationals, so timing is not always everything.
Hopefully the old grannies and gramps collecting garbage can retire and hand over the work to the new generation
Hong Kong does run criminal background checks. In fact, it is the first thing employers do when hiring. So most of these rioters probably couldn't get any decent jobs except working for other cockroach which mean rip off and low pay.
In that case they might be off traveling abroad if the still can. Apply for asylum visa or something.
It depends. Most of the cockroach in Taiwan were forced to take low pay jobs working in hospitality industry. Many of them end up being prostitutes. A guy and a few girls have been arrested recently in Taiwan for prostitution. In the UK, most of them end up being delivery guys. Like I said before, a million Hong Kongers already have foreign passports. For those who don't have foreign passports, only some middle class families that are well off and can sell their properties to migrant without hardship.

Are the National Security cases judged behind closed doors, or are they open? If the record is public, then it would be interesting to see if the American dirty laundry is aired out for all to see. I imagine the police bringing such charges is only because they have concrete evidence, otherwise it would be embarrassing...
As much as the media would like to portray HK Judges as some kind of rubber stamp procedure, the fact that so many rioters have gotten off shows that this is not exactly the case.
This is really, really interesting, because it the influence operation is very poorly disguised.
