Harbin Y-12 cost

...Beleive it or not I've been researching doing a small start up airline in the rough country of Canada, and Harbin makes one of the better suited planes for serving small tiny ice covered airfields. The Y-12. But in searching the net over, I can not find how much this plane costs anywhere. Can any of you guys find out? If they ask, I want 12-14 seats and a small rear cargo bay with racks/netting or boxes for packages. It must have full de-icing gear, heated cabin and weather radar, plus good blind weather avionics, especially altimiter, as they will be in mountain country. I went to Harbin's website, but the english portion does not give much information. Do not get them too excited, I'm also looking at the LET L-420 too. And at anyrate, this is for my business plan draft. So it'll be awhile before I'll know if financing is available. Thanks for your help......

Nice!

Do you have the website? Perhaps one of us can translate the Chinese portion to you.

Nothing in Canada is good enough???

..Nothing good enough!:) The Y-12 looks to be a very fine little transport for Light STOL. In fact, a Canadian company just bought 120 Y-12 airframes and outfitted them for South Africa and Brazil, and apparently sold all 120 airframes. I want to get a cost to put a draft together, to see if I can get financing to buy 6-8 of them. Otherwise it's going to go to Anotov and their AN-38-120 or the LET L420. Actually I'll probably get 4 AN-38-120's for slightly larger pick ups. So it's really the LET L420 versus the Harbin Y-12IV. both are FAR 25 certified. Then I'll look at serious freighter to make up the rest of the fleet. Does China have anything like an AN-70? That looks to be my big freight hauling horse. Then I'll need some small Airliner like an IL-114.....

The cost of 1 Y-12 is 2.48 million RMB, which is around 350 K CAD or 310 K USD.

....Outstanding, so for under 4 million USD, I could have a fleet of 12 Y-12IV's ready to ply the routes, and probably have all spares for under 5 million USD. Gentlemen I think we have our winner:D And fully FAA (and Canadien)certified at that....

Just out of curiosity, is this a serious business attempt or a college project or something? No offense intended. Good luck either way.

....Yeap, I did check for accidents, and most are nearly all from flying in bad conditions, very few mechanical failures at all. This is definitely a business project. I've got little to do now that I'm disabled, but if I return to Canada, I can use my Native status to start up a business very easily. Especially since it will address a very bad need for my people and the area in general. It will take a few years, but if presented properly, it can happen. The main part is knowing the parties, what their expectations are, and satisfying their concerns. Now I'll have to figure out frame lifecycles and translate that into passenger rates to figure fares and such. I think between the Y-12IV and the LA-8 Amphibian, I'll have the two aircraft that will make the fans of the regional circut. That will open up transport to all possible Labrador areas between the two.....

I always pictured second hand Twin Otters as the fav up there. Re the accident rates, I'm suspicious that none of the Chinese accidents are reported. Also maybe some military accidents missing from the easy to get record. Not trying to scupper your plans but just an observation on the Y-12.

Bitten Norman are close to going bust yet again I think, might have a few bargains floating about.

...I'd love to have a fleet of Twotters, problem is, so does everybody else. They are hard to get in matching aircraft, and very expensive. But the thing is, since the Y-12IV appeared, they have not had any accidents. And the accidents they typically had before were either from overloading the plane, or flying in bad conditions without benefit of EPGW gear, or other advanced navaids. But there have been over 220 Y-12IV's or Twin Pandas built in the last few years, and none of them have crashed.....
