Thanks sumdud. I have no problem with immigrants. Just respect the laws reguarding immigration in the US. Why should someone like my ex-wife or sumdud and his family come to the US leaglly only to see illeagals get the same rights as those people who entered the country legally?

As far as the LAPD is concerned. ..Well they do not play. Never ever. They are no joke. They make the cops here in Cedar Rapids look like Barney Fife.

I'm writing less and less these days...I should do it more often.

Yeah the LAPD has been known to crack heads. It doesn't seem to me that there has been very much of an uproar over the demonstration incident. That's odd considering the Mayor is Latino and Lations really hold a lot of politcal power in the city while the LAPD, though it is no longer racially divided like it was not so long ago, still is more or less a white institution.

LA is such an amalgam of races that I think it really creates mor racial harmony ten discord.

As for May Day, that thing in Finland looks fun.

The May Day immigration protests Tuesday began as a textbook moment for LAPD community relations.

Top department officials had meetings with march and rally organizers weeks before to help plan the route, set the ground rules and make sure there would be no trouble.

Police officers appeared relaxed and could be seen chatting and laughing with protesters as they moved up Broadway to City Hall earlier Tuesday.

But six hours later, the situation turned dark.

A group of agitators began throwing plastic bottles and other objects at police during a late afternoon rally at MacArthur Park.

LAPD officers in riot gear quickly moved in, firing scores of foam projectiles and swinging batons at marchers and reporters.

By "foam projectiles" I assume that they mean rubber bullets. By "swinging batons" they mean beating people, in case the pretty language confused you.

Unfortunately for the LAPD, they also went after the media to complement the old women and children. (Yeah, there were men as well)
