H-6 Bomber Aircraft Discussions

If you believe that an air launched CJ-10A is good for a 2000km range then Guam is already well within range (Guangzhou to Guam is only about 3500km) since I don't expect they'll be flying overhead and dropping iron bombs as I'd think any H-6 pilot would prefer not to be anywhere near Andersen AFB if they can help it!

I certainly wouldn't expect h-6Ks to conduct conventional bombing runs over Guam, especially as their bomb-bays have been converted to fuel tanks. Nevertheless, I do believe that, PLAAF would have to risk assets of their H-6F conventional bomber fleet in order to inflict persistent damage to Andersen AFB's airfields sufficient to neutralize the capacity to launch strategic bombers. H-6F's would require airborne re-fueling to accomplish this objective. Of course, this phase would be subsequent to, and consequent of, PLAAF gaining freedom to operate in the airspace, a tall-task, indeed.

h-6 already out dated, even with new engine and new avionic, but with out stealth ,an out dated air frame ,for her size,it may may consider a insufficient bomb load.

All of your observations may be accurate. However, the H-6 is what the PLAAF has, and it's what they currently have to plan for and work with.

The H-6 is probably more than that. It provides the PLAAF with a longer range striker, which when pared with 1500-2000 km LACM's provides credible deterrent out to the second island chain. Importantly, this makes any direct moves against Chinese mainland and/or near area interests eg Spratley's etc more problematic Any aggressor will need to factor in both offensive tactics to overcome China's IADS plus expanding PLAAF / PLANAF aircraft projections, as well as factor in defensive measures to counter any preemptive or counter attack by the long range H-6 + LACM'S combo.

On top of 55 D-30KP-2 engines, China ordered 184 additional engines. The contract was signed in 2011. On Oct. of this year, China received 12 D-30KP-2 engines. According to the contract, Russia will delieve 64 enigines in 2013. From 2014, Russia will send 72 units each year.

H-6 is consider effected against countries that has no air defense,(Taliban,somalia..) or limited air defense (africa) but against USAF and USN,or japan? there's no way it can survive.

Don't see your point the H-6 can stay within the fighter screen of the PLAAF and lob cruise missiles at targets in the 1st and 2nd Island chain scoot back and get some more and repeat. If you're saying the JASDF, USN and USAF can take out the PLAAF and PLANAF fighters at will, then it's hardly the fault of the H-6!

The USAF has around 20 B-2s, 66 B1-Bs and 76 B52Hs. The B-52Hs are slated to remain in service till 2040. So I guess someone thinks big lumbering bombers with a 50 year old airframe design the RCS of a house is still favoured by at least one airforce!

Don't see your point

hkbc, don't think there's much of a point except to make predictive proclamations. i made the mistake of responding, but now I see that hardware's posts here are simply one-liners that lack any analytic depth. It appears that any suggestions we might make will simply be refuted by his prescient knowledge of all possible outcomes.
