Here's a crazy theory:

SAC patient on VLS for aircraft, naturally people immediately jumped and said "that's it! that explains it!"

I rather doubt it but the patient seems real so curious what it will be for.
Could be interesting on some kind of loyal wingman UCAV making a security barrier arround a bomber group, intercepting missiles and aircraft acting like a mobile CIWS system.

How would micro defense missile track incoming missile? I doubt most if not all of fighter sized aircraft have the 360 coverage to detect a missile never mention produce a fire solution. most of them would only have some RWS or thermal detector out of their front radar cone. Larger bombers and other specialist aircrafts except AWACS have even less situation awareness. So does this mean this concept is supposed to only work under support of AWACS (what's the normal detection range against A2A missile sized target again?) or it would require a new breed of aircraft with conformal antenna at every direction?

I remember there was the CUDA concept which was carried in F-35's weapon bay but that was only supposed to fire at targets in front of the jet because the limit of both radar coverage and weapon bay.

All the recent Chinese aircraft have maw. I would guess that they would install them on any aircraft they plan to keep for a while like j10 mlus.

Someone a bit earlier in this suggested it could alternatively be on a drone (maybe like gj-11) or something like that.

That way tankers and bombers could be escorted with a drone (probably with good AWACS capability) that has hard kill VLS to protect against any incoming missiles.

Can someone with a good grasp of Chinese tell us if this is anything of significance?

The thread suggests a Chinese stealth Tu-22M3M, long range supersonic medium bomber. There's nothing in the thread that suggests this drawing is indication of anything though other than "there seems to be two stealth bomber projects".

Such an aircraft would make sense given the vast distances in the Pacific. But thus far we have no evidence of something like this being in actual development. Plus how do they have an engine in that category. The Russian production of NK-32-02 engines thus far is quite limited and their total annual engine production is known. Not enough to produce for their own needs in Russia let alone for export. And Chinese engines are still not developed enough. Perhaps in 5 years or nearer the end of the decade. But right now I can't see it happening.
