Golly's flag hint might mean that it is a Russian cruiser captured by the Japanese in 1905 and put back to service. The Varjag and the Bayan look like it, more likely the former?

According to this list, they had a whole collection of foreign battelships.
But I cant find the right one.

I tried that route too but could not find a captured warship with 4 smoke stacks.

I think it's the Russian cruiser Variag, scuttled by the Russians, then raised by the Japanese and served as the Soya.

Well altough Costas was almoust correct (tough he didn't seem to know being right himself), I think I should give this to Panzerkom as he was right about the name of the ship in both russian and Japanese service.

It was indeed Soya, former russian cruiser Varyag
