Two absolutely beautiful colorized photos of Musashi from the battle of the Sibuyan Sea. The first one shows how fierce the engagement was and how the hell on earth looks like. Very dynamic one. The second one is truly romantic one with Musashi slowly going down by the bow. The sea is so calm... The skies above looks so calm... Beauty and horror. Amazing.

Appropriately for the China Defence Forum, here's a couple of pics of the largest unit of the Chinese Navy, the former Royal Navy Arethusa Class Cruiser HMS Aurora, which in Chinese service was variously known as Chunkinh in 1948, captured by the communists and renamed as Tchoungking 1949, Hsuang Ho 1951, Pei Ching 1951, Kuang Chou 1958, later hulked. I've always wondered why the PLAN never received Sverdlov class cruisers that even Indonesia managed to acquire, it would have been good command ships for the PLAN in the 1960's to train on.
