To be fair, he was probably being sarcastic. You can search for the name Folke Bernadotte, Swedish royalty who saved thousands of Jews during the war. So how did the Jews thank him? By brutally murdering him in Jerusalem in 1948 while he was United Nations Security Council mediator. This led directly to a long period of diplomatic discord between Sweden and Israel.
