under Tibetan Buddhism.

I think an aspect of that lingers on in today's Tibet and Tibetan autonomous prefectures. But usually only Mao (sometimes Xi) gets honored on walls. No villager is hanging up photos of Hu or Jiang lol.

Poor peasants who went through land reform in the early years of CPC are fanatical supporters of the party, partly because land reform benefited them economically and partly because landlords back in those days were really awful people to put it mildly.

Edgar Snow records this conversation on a train in his Red Star over China:
In the morning I inspected my traveling companions and found a youth and a handsome old man with a wisp of gray beard sitting opposite me, sipping bitter tea. Presently the youth spoke to me, in formalities at first, and then inevitably of politics. I discovered that his wife’s uncle was a railway official and that he was traveling with a pass. He was on his way back to Szechuan, his native province, which he had left seven years before. But he was not sure that he would be able to visit his home town after all. Bandits were reported to be operating near there.

“You mean Reds?”

“Oh, no, not Reds, although there are Reds in Szechuan, too. No, I mean bandits.”

“But aren’t the Reds also bandits?” I asked out of curiosity. “The newspapers always call them Red bandits or Communist bandits.”

“Ah, but you must know that the editors must call them bandits because they are ordered to do so by Nanking,” he explained. “If they called them Communists or revolutionaries that would prove they were Communists themselves.”

“But in Szechuan don’t people fear the Reds as much as the bandits?”

“Well, that depends. The rich men fear them, and the landlords, and the officials and tax collectors, yes. But the peasants do not fear them. Sometimes they welcome them.” Then he glanced apprehensively at the old man, who sat listening intently, and yet seeming not to listen. “You see,” he continued, “the peasants are too ignorant to understand that the Reds only want to use them. They think the Reds really mean what they say.”

“But they don’t mean it?”

“My father wrote to me that they did abolish usury and opium in the Sungpan [Szechuan], and that they redistributed the land there. So you see they are not exactly bandits. They have principles, all right. But they are wicked men. They kill too many people.”

Then surprisingly the greybeard lifted his gentle face and with perfect composure made an astonishing remark.

“Sha pu kou/” he said. “They don’t kill enough!” We both looked at him flabbergasted.

Tibetan ex-serfs who both endured greater oppression from their owners and experienced liberation later than rest of China have even greater admiration of Mao than average Chinese peasant, shit talking Mao is equivalent to siding with the slave owners to them.

China Is Making the Same Mistakes the Soviets Did
Instead of massively expanding the country’s nuclear arsenal, Chinese leaders ought to focus on energizing its economy and technological prowess.
By Minxin Pei

This guy comes up with so many funny articles like this. Which always try to portray US as the unbeatable behemoth and China as weak and it always tries to convince a non existant Chinese audiance how China should give up and become US vassal.

China that only spends 1.6% of its GDP on Military is going to lose the Arms race because US and its allies have more total GDP. Does the US and its list of Core allies have the industrial might and infrastracture to beat China in an Arms race if China really wanted to fight one?
This is an idiotic argument. China spends less of its GDP in the military than the US. The truth is China should be spending more. Not spending enough on defense means you might end up just like Libya. Or Qing China for that matter. We still see US warmongers claim that China can be nuked without fear of retaliation. Even after the DF-31AG and DF-41 entered service. So yes a massive nuclear buildup is necessary to prevent such dangerous thoughts. And given the current size of the Chinese economy, plus modern technology, this does not need to break the bank. The fact is the US itself is currently in the process of upgrading its nuclear arsenal by building the Columbia class submarines, and the replacement to Minuteman. And somehow the US can afford this despite having deficits of like a trillion dollars a year. Why wouldn't China be able to?

Some US officials are just hella uneducated. Remember that idiot that wanted to import iron dome to defend against hypersonic missiles?

I'm pretty sure China could have disabled the entire US nuclear arsenal using EW and launched nukes at every US population center town sized and up, that guy would still not stop thinking America can win a nuclear war until the moment he actually sees mushroom clouds on fox news.

What idiots (frankly, real world, unironically examples of subhuman) think is not important.

@ansy1968 and everyone here, how would you read thus post from the Philippines former Foreign Affairs Secretary's made on social media. Is it appropriate comment to make or people are simply too dumb to understand his sophisticated and intellectual commentary? Lol
