France Is Fitting Paseo XLR EO/IR System On All Its FREMM And Air Defense Destroyers

Faced with the increasing threat posed by kamikaze USV and UAV, the French Navy (Marine Nationale) has issued an "urgent operational requirement" to fit Safran's Paseo XLR advanced electro-optic infra red (EO/IR) system on all FREMM frigates and Horizon type Air Defense destroyers.
It appears that the USV threat is already proliferating in NATO naval forces

Just to use as a comparative example, an Arleigh Burke has at least 3 surface search/navigation/fire control X-band radars, 2 low-level/surface Ku-band air search radars from the 2 Phalanx systems, 1 EO system independent, 2 EO systems associated with the 2 Phalanx and 2 EO systems associated with the 2 Mk-38 cannons. In total, there are 5 electro-optical systems and 5 radars capable of detecting targets on the surface. And there is also the passive hull sonar system that can provide some type of warning because these drones may have low radar, thermal and visual signatures but they must certainly make a lot of noise.

French aviation company Dassault is ramping up production of its modern Rafale fighter jets due to a significant increase in orders.

According to reports from La Tribune, the company aims to reach a production rate of 3 Rafale aircraft per month in 2024. This step is driven by a substantial portfolio of export orders and domestic contracts placed by the French Armed Forces.

Following a surge in Rafale orders (18 in 2024, 60 in 2023, and 92 in 2022), Dassault Aviation has geared up to accelerate the production pace of the tricolor combat aircraft.

“We are transitioning to producing 3 aircraft per month from a rate that was lower by units in 2020 when production was stagnant,” explained Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation.

Footage has been released of the French Navy's counter-drone and anti-sea drone exercises. The use of an EBRC Jaguar armoured reconnaissance vehicle is also shown, having been loaded onto a ship. Repurposed motorboats and jet skis were used as sea drones. The drones were attacked with all types of weapons, including ABM airburst projectiles
