Aconit: Operational training with the Bangladesh Navy
Currently deployed in the Bay of Bengal, the frigate Aconit made a stop from 10 to 15 May in Chittagong, Bangladesh. French first building to call at the port for ten years, the furtive light frigate was welcomed with honors.

At the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space 2016 exposition held recently near Washington D.C., Navy Recognition learned that the French Navy (Marine Nationale) has requested detailed information from BAE Systems on the Mark 45 naval gun system, automated handling system and the extended range precision guided munitions (SGP and HVP).
Talking to Navy Recognition during Sea Air Space 2016, John Perry, Director of Business Development explained "we provided this information [to the French Navy] as they make their decision going forward for the FREMM upgrade program".
France sees the protection of freedom of the seas as critical, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said during the 15th Asia Security Summit held in Singapore on Sunday. He added that a loss of such rights in the South China Sea may lead to similar problems closer to Europe, in the Arctic Ocean or Mediterranean Sea.
