Again...despite the naysayers...and the voice and space they are given...the F-35 is going to be viewed in the future as an anbelivable success.

No kool aid needed for that. In fact, given my own years of working in engineering and defense...it takes the kool aid (and a lot of ignorance) to continue makeing the claims and naysaying of this aircraft that is going on. but that has aklways been the case when it comes to the US in particular.

No matter...the F-35 will be the F-16 of this generation...and it will lead us to the 6th gen fighters in a decade or two in terms of getting to their intial designs and the intial prototypes of those aircraft probably in the 2030s.

The US government obligated $2.18 billion in funding from foreign military sales customers and international partners in the Joint Strike Fighter programme for an interim contract to Lockheed Martin to continue F-35 production.

The award funding 50 international aircraft was expected, following a 7 July agreement known as an "undefinitised contract action" (UCA) that continued domestic aircraft production.

The Joint Programme Office values the award at $2.18 billion, though the office previously valued the contract at $2.28 billion. The office did not respond to a request to explain the difference.

The UCA, which has a $5.57 billion price ceiling, allows Lockheed to continue producing aircraft until the low-rate initial production Lot 11 contract is finalised. Ultimately, LRIP 11 will include 91 US jets, plus 28 for international partners and 22 FMS aircraft.

“The US Department of Defense will continue to negotiate the LRIP 11 contract with Lockheed Martin and expects to definitise by the end of the year,” the DOD says in a 28 July statement. “We are confident the final negotiated Lot 11 aircraft unit prices will be less than Lot 10 and represent the best interests of the government and provide acceptable profit to the contractor.”

Separately, the DOD and Pratt & Whitney are negotiating the Lot 11 propulsion contract. The JPO expects to wrap negotiations on both the aircraft and engine Lot 11 contracts by the end of the 2017, the JPO says.

Nice looking weapon, blue looks good don't you think?? LOL

but check out that F-35, enlarge the photo, and check that bird out, SLIK as a Baby's Butt! I mean really, it is seamless, I know Jeff was impressed when he was up close and personal with it, and MAN-O-Man that coating is just gorgeous, and the panels are SMOOTH!

The quality control on the F-35 is immaculate, fit and finish are perfection, the panels fit much better than on anything I've ever seen. Its a great contrast to the Mig-29s that I have put my hands on, they are "industial",,,,this is Ferrari or Lamborghini, actually its much better than that, that is indeed a contributing factor to keep the RCS so low.

Right you are my brother.

I was able to get my grandsons and myself right up to the babies and they are as you describe.

I had a great conversation with the pilots and the maintenance guys there and they themselves are wowed by the aircraft.

Hehehe...they gave me one of their squadron T-Shirts, a signed photo of the aircraft, and a baseball hat. I was of course very happy and wear them fairly often to this day.

Blue weapon normaly inert for the rest you are ofc Buddy always " unusual " hehe :)

Soviet ( now Russian fighters are of better quality and more long service life ) built in very big qty cheaper almost a war production but medium quality i have some service life to only 2000 h for Su-27 for them 20 years, pilots fly much less than NATO.
