was delayed because of heavy fog at Cameri airbase, the final stopover of the Lightning II aircraft on their way to Nevatim airbase, on Dec. 12.

The aircraft were initially scheduled to arrive in Israel at around 2.00PM LT but the aircraft could not depart from the Italian airbase experiencing bad weather conditions with a horizontal visibility between 250 and 700 m, with clouds at 200 feet, well below the IFR minimums for the ferry flight.

Although some immediately blamed the F-35 for the delay, it must be said that the same wx (weather) would have grounded any other modern warplane on delivery or not involved in an actual combat mission.

An unlucky start for the “Adir” that caused the ceremony, to be attended by U.S. Defense Secretary Ashotn Carter, to be delayed by about 5.5 hours.

As a consequence of the tweet, Lockheed Martin’s stock fell by as much as 3% and was down 2.55% as of 8:45 a.m. ET

Trump is just saying as he use to be. Regardless what people think of F-35, it is too big to fail, too late to kill and no alternative in place for both US and her allies. Cut numbers won't save much money either as it will only push up unit price and reduce total capability (numbers). And the congress won't allow it to happen as congressmen want keep jobs in their constituencies.

The F-35 was supposed to set down at 2:04 p.m on Monday, but then came the initial delay of “less than an hour,” which became 90 minutes, which became “We won’t know until 4:30,” which became 7:30.
In the end, the first F-35 touched down at 8:16 p.m., followed a minute later by the second.

Master Jura, we have a saying in the pilot community Bub, "time to spare??? go by air!" kind of a little "sardonic humor". Aircraft are of course subject to weather, with the biggest aircraft delivery this century, or I should say the "deal of the century", nobody was going to jeopardize all that gorgeous radar absorbent coatings? nobody!

So people can poke fun all they want, but this was a very simple operational adjustment, safety is the first order of the day in "ALL, non-combat flying"!

My Daddy harped on me with this! "There are Old Pilots, and there are Bold Pilots, but there are NO OLD BOLD Pilots! they did the right thing, there are lots and lots of dead bodies of people who let their pride get ahead of their brain and those trusting souls who misplaced their trust in a "hot pilot", and there will be LOTS and LOTS more!
