Abba imploded because of the soul-crushing badness of their music.

Geez...European music is wierd. And for some reason most of the songs are in English. I know English is a lingua franca, but wouldn't you want it to represent your country? Music wise, I'm with Popeye. Despite modern-day rap, I'm gonna have to go with American music.

Hey Goll-

You should check out the bands Wolfmother and The Darkness. Wolfmother is from Australia and is kind of popular with music-concious Americans like me who like rock. They owned at a couple of festivals, concerts etc, especially Cochella. I'd like to go see them. The Darkness is from England and they are pretty popular there, and they are pretty popular in America when they release new alblums. Neither of these bands get much MTV or radio play, because there seems to be some sort of conspiracy to keep rap and dance-pop in control of American's music. They might even be popular in Finland, I don't know. Both of them remind me of a classic rock-type sound we never get nowadays.

well Darkness is well known in here, good Queen/Bad company rip-off...one of the few new bands that turns my head off. I once saw Wolfmater in Conan O'Brien show, but i cannot recall was it good or bad...

Anyway, thougth we are pretty labeled as heavy-metal country, we actually have only one rock radio station, and even that plays play-list concept stuff mostly 80's hair-rock. And the station isent even nation-wide...
Our BBC equalent has two hour rock show in mondays-to fridays but the guys have too weird musical taste...more reaggea than metal...I have actually heard Stairway To Heaven only once from radio in my entire life so perhaps that explains lot....and that was some spcial Led Zeppelin evening....

isnt it sad how sweden is trying it with a new ABBA copy every year again ?

Yeap.. those ABBA years is coming back to haunt us. But i am happy that Carola that sang the Swedish song did not win. She is a christian psycho that will try to convert everybody to join the idiots in the sect "The word of life". Its something wrong in these religious sects. I just hate it when Mormons and Jehovas come pestering me at my own home talking in a monotone voice as if they all are brainwashed zombies. Even worse is it when they come from USA as a "missionary" to convert lost souls in Europe.. Whats wrong with them????
