Long live the Autobahn. At least you can make some distance over time. I hope the long proposed general speed limit won't make it. 120-130km/h (75-81mph) would be a nightmare. For the last 20 or so years proposals to limit top speed because of accident statistics, and lately gas savings have been around. But it never got through.
That's so bad in the US. They build streets wich go straight ahead for dozens of miles and are 50 or so yards wide, but you're stuck at 75-85mph. At the distances in the US (esp the southwest) you don't seem to get any closer to your destination. On those streets you could easily go 100-120mph, eat a sandwich and play cards in the meantime, as the driver. What I also find strange are those 4 way stops.
Itally is quiet challanging, esp if you're used to preserve your car in the best condition. France is not that much better.

Don't drivers in Hong Kong scold you for not paying attention if their car hit you?

OMG, I would never drive in Hong Kong. The rules are strict and speeds are enforced and all, but the road designs are terrible........ One of the worst for developed regions....

Seriously, the median divider between opposite traffic and lane dividers are the same colour and barely a difference in length...... Can't imagine driving through Austin Road and coming out in one piece...... Not to mention those exchange lengths on the freeway... No time to change lanes before you are forced to exit the freeway again!

These being done elsewhere?
Motorcycles have been banned from "Urban" Guangzhou (Prefecture thing....what was Guangzhou the city is now called Downtown of Guangzhou). Same happening elsewhere?

Also, trucks not registered under the city(or is it the province?) are not allowed to enter "Downtown" until 7PM.

That is so true sumdud. I don't even know how my dad lasted in the street of hong kong when he was driving while we still live there.

The ban in guanzhou for motorcycle is mostly have to do with riders not following rules since they are either stacking a lot of stuff or riding the opposite way and also theives that steal your stuff while riding along. All the above could be fixed but the official never did anything about it since motorcycle hurt car sales.

As for the truck i think that is only for some province. Some cities ban tricycle as they are seen as a Farmer's car, but from my point of view each stage of society (poor to wealthy) should have a way of transportation and earn benefit from it. If they are worried about rules of the road, all they have to do is ENFORCE IT with the police.
