For all his faults Trump quickly realised something and he told it many times. In the US the people dont have power. Its the "Deep State" which controls the US.
Bingo.
Which brings me to my main point. Why would these people who don't have any capacity on academic or technical basis to exercise state power, claim to be "power source" of a state?
Power is never given. It's earned. How do these incompetents dream of living & running a country?

I suppose China can reciprocate “temporarily” in other areas ....Hopefully, when trust has been established, the situation could improve. In the meantime, there are other countries to go to. Personally, I am angry and disappointed with the several “Anti-Chinese” incidents in some US States recently. The Biden Administration should act soonest. The US is historically a “melting pot”of various racial groups : African American, Hispanics, Chinese, Vietnamese , Japanese etc. Trump’s white narrow-minded followers are causing serious troubles in the country....”The enemy within is more dangerous than the enemy without”. Have a good weekend to all in this chat group.

Looks like biden is increasingly being forced by good ol' reality to find compromise with China and russia to a lesser extent

"Thus, the need to engage with China on trade issues is perfectly understandable at a time when america’s farmers have lost the vast majority of what was once a US$24 billion market in China.

Lifting tariffs will be a key issue to be discussed in later trade talks between China and the us, and the two countries are likely to reach consensus at least on incremental removal of tariffs. Suffice to say, engagement with China is unavoidable."

Biden will need a good story to sell to the American public or he is going to be called "Beijin's man" by the Republicans

I dont know what China can offer to him in order to drop the tariffs.

I don't think so, his moves in Korea and Japan are pretty telling

Does Beijing actually think the US cares what a Chinese think tank says? Just being Chinese, Americans automatically think it favors China and undermines the US so I don't even know why they even bother. Common ground? That's a joke. The US wants and expects advantage because they setup Chinese are naturally evil so they have a right to an advantage. Does China see Biden looking to deal? No because he has to make the US look strong by showing China isn't important to the US. China expressing wanting a deal only helps Biden make the US look strong because China is begging first and it will only stall it further so they can say they're making China sweat. Like I've said before, negotiation is weakness to Americans. Negotiation suggest each side gets something they want. Americans want absolute control and giving China what it wants means the US is not in control. This is a game of brinksmanship... a game of chicken not like how Beijing thinks it's civilized by giving the US a bone. Dealing with the US means going to the edge. The Chinese hate instability. To prevent instability means always finding a middle. That's why China doesn't let even anti-American rhetoric at home to get out of hand because if they unleased it, it might get out of their control like if Beijing itself doesn't do enough against US aggression, that anger might turn against them. That's why Beijing wants the Chinese as apolitical as possible. You look at the US you can see what happens when Americans don't care about stability. The Chinese way doesn't work either because somehow Beijing thinks it'll be recognized and rewarded thinking they're civilized. It's the opposite in the West since Beijing futilely wants the West to recognize it. Look at how the West is alarmed by the language Chinese diplomats are using and they're calling it aggression. That's called every second in the US. Senator Masha Blackburn wanted to score Trump points and went on a tear against China and a Chinese diplomat masterfully posted on her Twitter account, "Bitch!" Blackburn was shocked and horrified and the right-wing racist tried to find refuge hiding behind charging "Sexism!" People did not run to her defense and jump on the bandwagon of hiding behind sexism charges because everyone knew it was true. She's still anti-China but no more going out of her way to take swipes at China like she was doing before. These are the people that drop bombs on other countries in the name of democracy and look at the insurrectionists on January 6th in Washington that wanted to circumvent democracy calling China an aggressive power... The West is judging China in relative terms. The West is worse when it comes to aggressive language especially to other countries yet they accuse China of being aggressive in general when they not use to Chinese retorting back to their offenses. They're use to it being a one-sided affair in their favor. Beijing did nothing for the longest time to counter Western rhetoric and then when China finally does fight back, they think China is violating their rights. You defend yourself from them and think they're the victim. Look at the Ahmaud Arbery case because he was jogging on the streets a father and a son thought he was the guy committing burglary in the neighborhood and they went after him and killed him. And what was their defense for murdering someone who was just jogging? He resisted so that was a threat to their lives so it was self-defense and murdering him was legal. The US is doing this internationally. Since Beijing is always wanting a middle ground, how about China finding the middle ground between what they think is civilized and what the West is doing because clearly what Beijing thinks works... doesn't.

Perfect post, applause!

The West doesn't want a negotiation of win-win with 50-50, 50% benefit to US and 50% benefit to China

The US wants only 100-0, 100% to US and 0% to China.

China thinks that for repeatedly calling for talks and negotiations makes it look like a responsible and grown up country. WRONG!
The US, and the West in general, see that as China being WEAK.

Now, China ofc is not losing anything if they waste US' valuable time with talking year by year lol

So if China wants to keep up the game, then I dont see why they should stop now. Xi can keep talking about "win-win", cooperation with the US, friendly negotiations with the US etc., because this is "free" for him. China wont lose anything if it keeps talking and talking forever. As they say, "talk is cheap"
