A cohort of rising powers are trying a different approach: linking meritocracy with autocracy of various degrees of hardness. Lee Kuan Yew recognized that the best way to enjoy Western levels of prosperity was not to introduce one-person-one vote but to borrow Western mechanisms such as an elite civil service, recruited through open competition and dedicated to corruption-free government, and graft it onto older Mandarin traditions of the rule of the scholar-bureaucrat. Since then a growing number of countries, led by mighty China, have tried to imitate his model.

I pointed out to the author that the modern British and French civil services were originally modelled on the Chinese imperial examination system and bureaucratic meritocracy

The old Confucian imperial examination system, still used by everyone who adapted it, including the CCP of all people.

Given what is happening in Palestine, how far should China get involved?

For example, China is currently chair of the UN Security Council.
And it's not an exaggeration that the entire UN is calling for a ceasefire.
Of course, the exceptions are Israel and the USA which is blocking this.

And one future impact is that when the usual suspects mention Uyghur Genocide - their actions on Palestine will be flung back in their face.

Cut till both reach an equal amount OR total ban on warheads. FAIR

As usual US is trying to get you on the table and demand a X cut that totally only eat into your share then claim you as irresponsible if not compliant. Then when the need rise they can just walk off from the agreement citing national security as an easy excuse.

The US relying on the stupidity of the masses. Yes talk as if China has an equal nuclear arsenal to the US for the US to look like they're the good guys wanting to reduce nukes in the world. China should say they'll talk about totaling eliminating nukes around the world or when the US reduces it's number to how many China has otherwise f*ck off! The US is the first country to have nukes and still are the only ones to use them out of military aggression after 75 years. So who's more responsible with nukes when the US used it as soon as they put one together?

China should get as involved as it can diplomatically IMO. It's a low hanging fruit.

Israel is America's Achilles heel. Being pro-Israel may win you votes in the bible belt, but it is damaging to America geopolitically. America isn't very popular most Islamic countries. In a bipolar world the less influence America has the more influence China has. American strategists know this and that's why they're so keen on bringing up the Uyghur hoax.

The other benefit is that it's dividing America and its allies. Europe is generally more sympathetic towards Palestinians than USA and even countries like the UK don't see eye to eye with America on Palestine. Not to mention NATO allies like Turkey who are pretty much pro-Hamas right now. It would be a massive coup if China could get a member state to withdraw from NATO.

France asked for a UNSC resolution today on a ceasefire - China should jump on the proposal 100%.

Some of the US generals retired or otherwise, have suggested that it would be ok to use tactical nukes.

Just look or have a read of a new book/novel: 2034 written by two former military personnel. One a retired NATO Admiral and the other a former Marines special force operator. The U.S. lost 37 out of the 40 ships (including 3 air craft carrier) when it engaged the Zheng He battle group. In the scenario, the magnitude of losses were so profound that the U.S. woman President was left with no choice but to issue a direct order to another female Admiral to use a "tactical nuke" against the Chinese port of Zhanijiang with a 150-kiloton nuclear blast killing 7-10 million civilian lives. And it was written in the book as if it's something perfectly acceptable for the Americans to use to exact a military confrontation against the civilian population. America don't f..k w her or you'll get nuked.
