I agree, the Chinese have impressed with the systematic and efficient way they have built up their Navy, 003 will be launched when ready and not before. Lets remember the fiasco of the USN Ford and the fact that years after "entering service" she is still on "trials". Don't need to copy that, right?
Isn't Ford forced to enter service before it's ready because navy is required by law to have a certain number of carriers at any time?

Do you believe the USN is as meticulous as PLAN? As the EM cat on 003 requires precision tolerance in its tracks etc, PLAN would have taken Ford's bad experiences into account. My feeling is that China will not rush launch its 003.

What I was saying is that USN didn't launch Ford prematurely because of their own miscalculation but rather result of political reasons. Thus any sane navy without similar political string wouldn't do the same.

I suspect USN construction schedules for new ship types with a great deal of new and untried equipment would be more at the mercy of the particular engineering management capabilities of various private subcontractors, than would be the case with Chinese navy.

to be blunt, In peace time, US contractors and subcontractors have more leverage to protect themselves in case of underperformance, and the US navy and prime contractor has less freedom to crack heads to get things done or back on schedule, than would be the case in China.

I suspect this isn't a thread about the USN's project management record or its supply chains.

The 2 aircraft lift positions showed different colours. One shows red colour which is same as the floor of the dry dock, indicate that lift has not yet been installed. The one behind the island structure is white in colour, could be either the lift or a working platform used to install lift.
