That while Taiwan media constantly worry about the development of DF series missile, they should really be worried about massed PLA rocket artillery instead.

nah. They are worried about the DF series because it deters the US. Their fate is a done deal. Only the most delusional believe that they actually stand a chance alone.

Distortion of light path caused by different air temperature and air density at different atmospheric heights. Classic example of light distortion is looking through a round goldfish bowl

seems like an oversight by placing the blast deflector right next to the elevator. i realize realistically you won't be using that cat along with that elevator at the same time anyways, but Ford at least gives you that potential capability, whereas 003 completely shuts that down. what do you guys think?

The blast is going to be mostly upwards, no the sides. If sideways blast would be that much of an issue or you wouldn't have people standing to the sides of the blast deflectors during launches

Also both the Forrestal and the Kitty Hawks had blast deflectors near the elevators, and we didn't hear much about that causing issues.

A bomb elevator is very close behind the starboard jet blast on CVN 78. Problem? I don't think so, because the elevators are not in use when the catapult is operating.

One only needs to see the history of USN carrier configurations to see what he's saying is rubbish.



As for the idea of having greater separation between the JBD and the elevator -- while it has benefits, it also depends on whether the length of the bow can accommodate the positioning of the catapult in that manner.
To arrange the catapult significantly "forward" of the elevator like on the Ford class requires a longer ship in the first place.

In other words, the arrangement of their catapults and elevators is the most logical and sensible one with the dimensions available to them.



Also, can we please avoid citing this guy's tweets with any sort of seriousness?
He sometimes is the first to post new pictures, but his signal to noise ratio is terrible and obviously doesn't know what he's talking about and is not careful at all about what he says.
