Taiwan is 125 km from mainland China (google map distance tool). While it's true Chinese land based aircraft have no trouble reaching Taiwan, surrounding Taiwan with several aircraft carrier battle groups is psychological warfare, and also provides quick deployment to quickly seize control of the island should the opportunity arise, similar to how Russia quickly seized control of Crimea before US could react.
Please stop with such stupid and especially politically questions ... also, we are once again far off the 003 topic!

Well not this one, but I keep hearing rumours about a 30,000 ton "all energy warship" (全能舰) concept. Don't be too surprised if many years down the line we see a modern day Chinese Kirov class.
