How do you know? That video you referred to has been cut short, it doesn't shown any after explosion effect I was talking about. If you know the sea, you should known the ripple effect. Check out the old WW2 aerial attack video to see what the sea look like after bomb explosion near ships, especially US navy vs Imperial Japanese air attacks on US Okinawa Invasion task force.just looking at the Ford CVN video above. aside from the initial shockwave which disappeared in few mili seconds there are no clear waves after it. in the case of the Fujian couple that with the blur and then there would be no way to see waves assuming this is a shock test.
I'm not saying this is a shock test or just a cloud. I'm just saying we cannot rule out any possibility because the image is too low resolution to reach a conclusion.
Passive countermeasures/smokescreenShock trials? Nice.
If that cloud were the splash of an underwater detonation, it seems more comparable to the blast of Crossroads Baker than to the shock trials we've seen with USN CVNs.Also, it should be noted that no shock trial has ever resulted in water splashes that spans a kilometer in diameter, unless that shock trial is conducted with a tactical nuke.
