My guess is physics also plays a role in selecting number of boilers. The larger a boiler the thicker the wall thickness need be, unless you make a very long one. If a steam pressure of 3.5 ksi (on the high side) is assumed, you'd need ~2.5" wall thickness for steel with 400 MPa yield strength at temperature. It gets really thick for 3 meter diamter. So you cannot just arbitrary decide you only want 2, 4 or 8 boilers.

I don’t think you understand how steam turbines works. Not really ICE in the sense it doesn’t move reciprocating mass but boilers does combust fuel to heat up water.

It is you who don't understand how steam turbine works or what internal combustion engines are.

Steam turbines are by definition external combustion engines.

Self-explanatory.

Aircraft carriers are military equipment with special strategic significance. Everybody know what it means when they see a CSG on the sea or on the media. It is inevitable to put CV18 into service as soon as possible and demonstrate its combat capabilities while taking into account current complex international environment. I would not be surprised even if the sea trial period is quitely short or there are any other key scenes published officially in the following sea trials.
