Where did you get the idea that the third carrier will be called "Shanghai"?
Shanghai is not the name but the place where it will be build. The same with Dalian, a place not a name.

At the moment we know only one name: Liaoning. And only one number: 16.

someone speculated that there's the keel module of the second 001A or 002 inside the white building beside the CV-17, what do you think?
the white building is a mobile, moveable working hall (rails). The big modules there a to big to be used for CV 001 A - so they will be parts for the next ship to be build in the dock after CV 001 A - thats all for the first.

Deck seems to be really cleared.

Perhaps they are preparing to lay down the Zinc Chromate primer/undercoats for the non-skid surface

Hi Jeff,
Hopefully they aren't using zinc chromate primer anymore. It was banned for use by the ADF in the late 1990's after it was found to be carcinogenc. I remember when I was in the RAN and we uncovered some during corrosion control, a note went on our medical file and had to call in specialised contractors to remove it safely.
Cheers

Well, when we saw the Liaoning building/refitting, we saw the under coating for the non-skid coat laid down and it sure looked like Zinc Chromate to me.

Here:

But it could just as easily be a newer undercoating.

Unfortunately I think it is but as long the people applying it wears protective gear they should be ok. Just like asbestos.. as long as the particulates are not airborne it's ok. Pretty much all metals if inhaled too much can be carcerous.. That's the downside of progress.

I hope for the shipbuilders sake, they all put safety as #1. This is why we need things like OSHA.

I was reading about INS Vikrant and Type 001A in wikipedia. Why does INS Vikrant has an estimated range of 8,000 nautical miles (15,000 km; 9,200 mi) in comparison to Type 001A estimated range of 3,850 nautical miles (7,130 km; 4,430 mi) at 32 knots ?

At how much knots do they say it has that range?
18knots or something? Cause then its obvious 31vs18
Exact the comsuption is much more big to fast speed usual ranges for combattants is for a cruise speed of 16 - 18 kn sometimes 20 kn.

To put it simply: fanbois.
Useless It does not mean anything only a thing ur unhappy coz Chinese CV can have an inferior range ur a children dude...
