What
What does this image show? Is it not damage? Do we have any confirmation either way?
What confirmation? Do you mean an eye witness on the ground or PLAN’s spokesperson holding a press conference on this photo? Forget it… there’s no way anyone from PLAN would answer this kind of questions, either would anyone on the ground talk about anything on a PLAN’s ship to the public.
This photo clearly shows a line of sailers washing the deck with soapy water around them. Full stop, nothing more.

I think the sheer implausibility of carrier deck being seriously damaged without there being a major accident and a large fire on deck speak for itself. If there had been such an accident, the event would have been hard to keep hidden. Also unlike the navy of the USSR, the Chinese navy appear to be willing to announce serious accidents.

Why are we wasting time with clearly idiotic trolling BS accounts? We don’t have time to debunk every crazy moron on the internet.
Yeah I saw some 'credible analysts' saying that it is indeed 'damage'. On a side note, it helped me filter through analysts who are dross, the actual credible ones(they aren't pro-china, just sensible) do point out that it is just crew cleaning the deck.

OK, it's looking more and more like sailors cleaning the more I stare at it. That's where I'm leaning now. When I first saw it, it looked more like damage. A confirmation like a satellite image of the deck being normal again and operating in short time will do.
I think the sheer implausibility of carrier deck being seriously damaged without there being a massive accident onboard speak for itself. to do damage like that would take several aircraft fully loaded with fuel snd ammunition catching fire and blowing up on deck.
If there was a fire below deck while the ship was at sea and not reported, that could cause the damage.

I would love to be fully convinced beyond all doubt that the idiots clearly whistling past the graveyard when they speak down of Chinese quality have mistaken an image of sailors washing a ship with deck damage, causing them to jump on it like a rabid dog in heat.

the flight deck is at least 2 layers deep with probably a meter or more of air gap in between to shield space below it from the sound snd heat of jet blast. the side wall of above water hull is just one thinner layer. The deck is coated with heat resistant paint able to stand up to jet blast. Side of the hull just normal marine paint. If there is large below deck fire it is implausible for there to be large area of manifest fire damage near the edge of the deck without there being visible paint and other indication of fire damage on the side of the hull near the area affected.

I don't even know what would cause a weird line of... what, divets? Holes? We know from the Bonhomme Richard what a melted flight deck looks like and it definitely isn't that.
