Really?! So Intrepid what in your opinion is the purpose of the PLAN having two large aircraft carriers? Just for a show or what? Thank you!

Both carriers are accompanied by office ships so that everything they gain experience can be written down: write what you have learned and do what you wrote.

There is J-4. It was a prototype/test of Mig-9 together with J-3, never went into production. So nobody knows until very recently like J-9, J-12, J-13 (all known date and design institute) and J-14 (nothing known).

And we have DF-41.

There are skipped or unheard 4s, but there are equally lots of skipped and unheard "lucky" 8s or 9s. Such as J-19?, J18?

I would say CCP is more sensitive about power side of superstition, like if a superstition is being used to influence people and gather civilians for possible political movements, they will be really unhappy and starts knocking people down, but if it's a more of a religion or superstition that self-isolate or being individual, then CCP does not care, that is why the west and middle east have more powerful, influencing religion like christian and islam, while china has religions that goes to more of a philosophy track(Taoism, Han Buddhism). This is also why china is pretty sensitive with cults spreading in china starting FalunGong

Just to step in: There was NO J-4 nor a J-3, these were all either misinformed designations, numbers based on wrong translations or Western imaginations.

Correct me if i'm wrong but don't you need at least 2 aircraft carriers if you want to have aircraft carriers operating year round. One carrier will be under refit or repair while the other one is at sea. So having two air wings maybe to much of a good thing and the PLAN seems to be unhappy about the J-15 and is working on a stealth plane similar to the F-35C for Type 003 aircraft carrier that would have catapults.

It takes a lot of manpower to operate a navy and manpower equates to salaries ! Every capital ship should have a minimum of three crews with four being the most desirable. Most navies around the world can barely muster enough sailors to man their ships with two crews and most of time their ships are in dock due to a lack of manpower.
