Actually, he is right. 001A is just a fan made designation that has spread across the media. The actual designation is 002, as confirmed last year. The CATOBAR carrier is 003. I'm not sure why this thread is still called 001A as it only adds to the confusion ...

But seriously though, the thread should be correct sooner than later as it is officially called 002 rather than 001A which was made up by fans. The same goes to Z-10 which people still calling WZ-10. The fact that correct name of 002 was announced last year. I don’t understand why this thread has been keeping calling it 001A...Maybe you are confused since your own source you refer still uses the old designation and my images are no low-quality gifs.

This is the second carrier project China has done so far. But this is not called Project 002. And it has never been called officially as Type 001A either. This designation was made up by fans and used by fans only. It’s official designation has always been Type 002. The same logic goes to Z-10 which has always been wrong called as WZ-10 by fans till today.Type 001A or (Project) 002 is the same thing -> 2nd carrier and next after Liaoning, also STOBAR
Type 002 or (Project) 003 is the same thing -> 3rd carrier and first CATOBAR
